Corcovado Adventures

Welcome to Corcovado Adventure Tent Camp… where the lush, tropical rainforest kisses the beautiful beaches of the Pacific Ocean.

Situated on the Osa Pennisula and described by National Geographic as “the most biologically intense place on Earth, Corcovado Adventures offers travelers the extraordinary opportunity to connect deeply with a true rainforest environment. This isolated peninsula is home to 2.5% of there planets biodiversity, including pumas, tapirs, ocelots, anteaters, 4 species of monkey, as well as 350 bird species, and marine mammals including manta rays, sharks, sailfish, and 25 species of marine mammals.

Perfectly located midway between Dark Bay and The Rio Claro, our off the beaten path lodge is away from the dust, traffic, and congestion of Costa Rica’s beach towns. Because of our location, Corcovado Adventures offers our guests the rare opportunity to truly connect deeply with the surrounding nature. Situated along the coastal trail we are a 1 hour walk from Drake Bay, thereby giving our guests the experience of a stay with no motorcycles, no cars, and no dust. Whether you choose to lie in a hammock and observe the Scarlett Macaws fly overhead or explore the coastal trail south, you will not be disturbed by the annoyance of mechanized traffic.

Utilizing the ‘Glamping” concept our large, comfortable cabin tents are each mounted on wooden platforms, complete with queen beds, tables, lamps, charging station, and free internet. This allows our guests the option to watch a movie, read a book, surf the internet, sit on the front porch, or simply rest and listen to the soothing sounds of the Pacific waves washing up on our front beach.

Despite being off the beaten path we can be easily reached. Your journey ( an adventure in itself) begins in the quaint river outpost of Sierpe, where a safe, reliable boat takes you in and through the largest mangrove estuarine in Central America, out through the mouth of the Sierpe River, and finishes with a quick crossing over the Pacific waters to our hotel.

It’s a beautiful spot, but I had a very bad experience with the owners. After giving me miss-information about the place (which is very remote and secluded, and was completely empty at the time) I had to cancel my stay. They said they understand, but in reality they took the deposit money I paid for a tour I booked through them without even informing me (so I had to book the tour myself, luckily it was still available)

We stayed for 3 nights and loved it. The food and attentiveness of Nubia and Gabriel were 5+ stars. The beds were fairly comfortable and the tent was pretty spacious for 3 people. The location was absolutely gorgeous. Pros: -Amazing fresh food (soups, lasagna, fried fish, pancakes, eggs with salsa, fresh bread) -Bathrooms and tents were clean -Fans, lights and outlet in tents -Tents have porch -Walking trails and untouched beaches to explore. Gabriel even took a hike with us to show us sea caves and tide pools nearby. -Sound of the ocean and bonfires (if you request) at night -Pretty good snorkeling and shells at the Tent Camp beach -Lots of plants, some wildlife -Locks are provided for tents; small lockers for valuables -Local tours arranged by the Tent Camp staff (extra cost- we did snorkeling at Caño and a Corcovado hike) -Good value for the price -Kid and animal friendly -Nubia is a great cook and will accommodate dietary needs and picky eaters Cons: -Hot water in showers didn’t work -A few of the kayaks you can borrow have cracks which made for an adventure -It is rustic- I’m not used to walking in the dark to go to the bathroom -It’s a long walk or boat ride to anywhere else (but that’s to be expected) - Make sure to ask about the meals that are included. We didn’t have lunch at the camp twice because of our tours and then were asked to pay for an additional lunch as we left. (We worked it out but I wish it hadn’t been a last minute request for more money. It made packing for the transfer boat stressful.) Would highly recommend to anyone who doesn’t mind a semi-rustic, back-to-nature adventure.
