The Corcovado National Park area is located on the Osa peninsula in the southern pacific region of Costa Rica.

The national park together with the whole area surrounding it is considered to be the ultimate wildlife preservation  area of all of Costa Rica's extensive system of national parks and biological reserves.

The ecological variety and abundance is truly amazing. National Geographic once called it "the most biologically intense place on Earth". Any person visiting this incredible area can expect to see an abundance of both marine and rainforest wildlife at its best.

The area conserves the largest primary tropical rainforest on the American Pacific coastline and one of the few remaining sizeable areas of lowland tropical rainforests in the world.

Corcovado is large enough to support a sizeable  population of the endangered Baird's Tapir. And it hold s about 140 species of mammals (representing 10% of the mammal-species in America). Large herds of white-lipped peccaries (wild pigs) roam the park as well as several big cats (including jaguars, ocelots, cougars and margay).

Costa Rica as a whole is a birdwatcher's dream come true, and Corcovado in particular holds most of this treasure where several hundred land and marine bird species can be seen in their natural habitat.

The combination of all this biological richness with the beautiful pristine beaches makes Corcovado one of the few places on earth that you can surely call paradise.
