Surf in Drake Bay

Drake Bay is one of of the most remote destinations in Costa Rica, on the north western tip of the Osa Peninsula. While it is not a surfing destination, there are some noteworthy breaks for the adventurous type. Río Claro, about an hour hike or a short boat ride from Drake Bay offers a fantastic left when the swell is right. The river mouth estuary at Drake Bay offers visitors long and powerful waves and swells – but careful, these waves are certainly not for novice surfers!
